Update

"I just wanted to thank you all for your kind comments and the supportive emails I’ve received in the last 24 hours. Many of the emails came from people that I’ve never before met, either in person or via the comments. They were the regular but silent readers of this blog. There is much to be said about the kindness of strangers. There is equally as much to be said about the kindness of friends. It's a very real community spirit that exists. You have all given me and my family a great deal of comfort as we wait for news."

I think bloggers are a special breed of people. They can befriend a fellow blogger and know they will never meet. They share their deepest secrets with a faceless name online and those secrets they never would share with family or friends. A blogger becomes a secret family member and best friend and they are a special breed. If a fellow blogger has problems in their life or with someone who affects their life and they share their concerns then guaranteed their blogging community will rush to their internet side, to share their triumphs and there sorrows as faceless anonymous names.......we care! you may be having problems or explanations are necessary. When you have time to come on line and read comments then take strength from them - its the forgotten much maligned part of blogging.....people care. If they can't help directly they will help indirectly and often a word means as much as a deed to the recipient.

Take time away - read comments when you can. No need to acknowledge. We feel for you and we'll be here for you when you have time to return.

Anonymous, thank you so much for this. I'm discovering a side of blogging that's so much more meaningful than anything I've known or understood before. I suppose I have grown up a lot in the last 24 hours. Never before would I have said 'this is meaningful' but it is. As much as I dislike glib sentimentality, there is something higher and much more profound (I find myself using this word so much when thinking of these things).
