Can blog...

... but I’ve decided to have today away from my desk and to write nothing.

I hate these self-enforced breaks. I’m not a man given to taking holidays and even Judy never rests when we do take a break. She spent most of our last holiday in the Caribbean helping the locals to pick coconuts.

As for me, I work even when I'm on the beach. When I’m writing, I want to work for long hours. Two days up in Manchester changes everything. I come back so exhausted that by the time I’ve recovered, I’ve lost at least three days of my week. A broken routine is no routine. Perhaps I need a holiday from work so I can do some serious work. It would allow Judy to help strengthen her knee by shimmying up a few palm trees. It would also make a welcome break from this incessant rain.

Let me see ... I think I can help you two out! You can have a working holiday round at my place and spend your time in a really fulfilling way: polishing my sport's car, cleaning my house, cooking my meals, cleaning out the cat litter tray - and generally fetching and carrying for me.

And while you're doing all that i will be writing another novel which you can later review!

Just let me know your dates ...

Take it easy Richard, you've had a lot of gristle on your plate recently. BTW, I've never quite worked out why you need to spend these exhausting days in Manchester, but then I'm not a "media" person and I'm new to your blog. Hope you and Judy are having a restful weekend anyway:) xxx

Phew - glad you're back Richard. Was worried there. I can now happily go back to lurking. However, I find palm trees are harder to hide behind that the English Oak. :-D

Incessant rain?? It stopped for at least an hour yesterday giving us Welsh hill dwellers our full quota of British summer weather.

Tough trying to fit a barbecue, all the gardening, and a lot of whingeing about how hot it is into just an hour though xxx
